The senatorial candidates of the Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino -Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) have vowed to continue the reforms introduced by former president Rodrigo Duterte.
The Duterte-backed PDP-Laban senatorial bets made the promise during their miting de avance held at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila on Thursday, May 8.

The 10-man PDP-Laban senatorial bets include reelectionist senators Christopher “Bong” Go and Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, detained televangelist Apollo Quiboloy, lawyers Jimmy Bondoc, Jayvee Hinlo, Raul Lambino, Vic Rodriguez, Dr. Richard Mata and actor Philip Salvador.
During the rally, Go, who is leading in senatorial preferential surveys made an impassioned call for unity among Filipinos in support of the DuterTEN senatorial slate.
The former presidential assistant of the former chief executive urged voters to rally behind candidates who would carry on the Duterte legacy.
“Please lang po, kung mahal n’yo si Tatay Digong, kung mahal n’yo ang Pilipinas, pakiusap ko po sa inyo, tulungan po natin ang DuterTEN, mga kababayan ko (If you love Tatay Digong, if you love the Philippines, my appeal to all of you, is for us to help the DuterTen),” Go appealed.
“Twenty-four years na kaming magkaibigan, magkasama… Tested na ito… hindi magiging successful ang administrasyon ni (dating) Pangulong Duterte kung hindi dahil kay Senator Bato dela Rosa (We’ve been friends and allies for over 24 years…this is tested.. the Duterte administration won’t be successful if not for Sen. Bato dela Rosa,” Go stressed.
Dela Rosa, for his part, warned voters to think about the future of the Philippines and of the next generation.
"Ang isipin ninyo sa Lunes, pagboto ninyo, ang kinabukasan ng ating bansa. Ang kinabukasan ng mga sumusunod na henerasyon na dapat sila ay hindi mga nganga sa problema ng droga, kriminalidad, at korupsyon (What you think about on Monday, when you vote, is the future of our country. The future of the next generations who should not be burdened by the problems of drugs, criminality, and corruption),” Dela Rosa said.
Moreover, Dela Rosa said he believes the Senate should be an institution free from the influence of powerful figures and institutions, “not one held by the neck or led along by the nose by Malacañang or other branches of government.”
“Isang Senado na independente at talagang sinusunod ang doktrina ng checks and balances na magpapantay sa mga pang-aabuso ng ibang branches of government (we need a Senate that is independent and truly adheres to the doctrine of checks and balances that will equalize the abuses of other branches of government),” the former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief said.
