Detdet Pepito is playing in her final eligible year for University of Santo Tomas, the school's athletics director confirmed Friday, May 9.
After a few days of uncertainty, the libero finally made her decision to stay for one more season and lead the Golden Tigresses in Season 88.
The development was confirmed by Fr. Rodel Cansancio, UST’s Institute of Physical Education and Athletics (IPEA) director,
“Yes it is confirmed. Detdet is going to extend her stay with ust to play for UAAP season 88,” Cansancio told the Manila Bulletin.
Moments after their heartbreaking Season 87 loss to De La Salle University in the semifinal, the 22-year-old Pepito said she was uncertain with her future and that she needed time to plan her next move.
The Season 86 Best Libero played a pivotal role for UST along with Angge Poyos, Reg Jurado, Em Banagua, Bianca Plaza, and Cassie Carballo.
The former Palarong Pambansa standout finished as second in digs department where she averaged 4.25 per set, while fourth in receivers with a total of 197 excellent receptions off a 42.74 efficiency rate.
Jonna Perdido, who continues to heal from an ACL injury she sustained earlier the season, also vowed to suit up for UST in her final season.
