- Former Duterte Youth Party-list representative Ronald Cardema said he and his wife, Marie, will just leave the Philippines and become overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) if they do not win in the upcoming elections.
Cardema made the pronouncement on Friday, May 9, as he said he was already losing faith in the government. He claims that it is now full of corrupt individuals and plunderers.
"Baka nakakalimutan kasi ng mga Pilipino ang korapsyon at plunder ay krimen. Hindi lang yung rapist at mamatay tao. Lahat ng kakilala nyong plunderer sa gobyerno, korakot, lahat yan kriminal. Wala mang lang nag fafile ng kaso sa kanila (Maybe Filipinos have already forgotten that corruption and plunder are a crime. Rapists and killers are not the only criminals. All the plunderers and corrupt individuals in the government that you know, they are criminals. But no one is filing charges against them)," Cardema said.
"So sinasabi ko sa inyo, number one, kapag kami natalo sa Laguna at saka sa party-list, mag o-OFW na lang kami (I'm telling you, if we lose in the elections in Laguna and as a party-list, we will just become OFWs)," Cardema said.
But if they secure a government position in the polls, Cardema said they will continue former president Rodrigo Duterte's policies.
"Lahat ng ginawa ni pangulong Duterte, gagawin rin naman. May idadagdag kami, pati mga kurakot na pulitiko (We will copy Duterte's policies. And we will add more to it, we will fight corrupt politicians)," he added, referring to Duterte's campaign against drugs.
