Tamayo was all around the floor and kept the Sakers afloat in the waning minutes where he exchanged baskets against Juan Gomez de Liaño of the Knights.
Game 3 of their best-of-seven title series is set Friday, May 9, with Changwon getting closer to clinch its first-ever KBL crown after failing to get one in its last two attempts.
In the showdown of the two former University of the Philippines standouts, the 24-year-old Tamayo took the spotlight after tallying 27 points on a 50-percent shooting, along with seven rebounds and one steal.
In Game 1, Tamayo scored 24 in the Sakers’ 75-66 triumph last Monday, May 5.
Yu Ki-Sang provided the support with 14 points, while Heo Il-Young and Assem Marei, who also posted 14 rebounds, added 12 points each.
De Liaño, for his part, poured in 19 points – his most in the Korean league – on top of four rebounds and two assists to lead the Knights’ scoring column.
Jameel Warney had a double-double output of 17 points and 12 rebounds with four assists, two steals and one block, while Kim Sun-Hyung chalked up 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals which all went down the drain.
