Four days before the May 2025 national and local elections, the senatorial candidates of the Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino -Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) kicked off their miting de avance at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.
Endorsed by former President Rodrigo Duterte, the 10-man PDP-Laban senatorial bets include reelectionist senators Christopher “Bong” Go and Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, detained televangelist Apollo Quiboloy, lawyers Jimmy Bondoc, Jayvee Hinlo, Raul Lambino, Vic Rodriguez, Dr. Richard Mata and actor Philip Salvador.
The PDP-Laban senatorial candidates have been calling for the return of Duterte who is currently detained at The Hague, Netherlands and facing trial before the International Criminal Court (ICC) over charges of crimes against humanity which stemmed from his administration’s bloody war against illegal drugs.
Vice President Sara Duterte, who also earlier endorsed the senatorial candidates of the PDP-Laban is expected to attend the miting de avance.
The vice president earlier raised concern that the upcoming midterm elections might be tainted by vote-buying and cheating as she is confident that the “Duter10” senatorial bets already “have more than a majority support.”
