Nam Tae-hyun, ex-member of K-pop group WINNER, booked for drunk driving anew
Korean singer Nam Tae-hyun, 30, former member of K-pop boy band WINNER, was booked by the police for drunk driving.
Nam Tae-hyun is currently serving a suspended sentence for drug use.
According to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, they booked Nam Tae-hyun on charges of drunk driving, which happened last month, Korean media reported.
At about 4:10 a.m. on April 27, Nam Tae-hyun crashed his car into a center divider while trying to overtake a car in front of him near Dongjak Bridge on Gangbyeon Expressway.
At the time of the accident, his blood alcohol level was at the level of license revocation (over 0.08 percent). No one was injured in the accident.
Since the drunk driving incident occurred while he was on probation, the police applied for a warrant of arrest on May 2.
However, the court rejected this, saying, “There is no concern of destruction of evidence.”
In August 2023, he was indicted for violating drug law in Korea. A court sentenced him to one year in prison suspended for two years in January last year.
This stemmed from charges that he mixed methamphetamine purchased through Telegram with alcohol with influencer Seo Min-jae, who appeared on the entertainment program “Heart Signal” in 2022. Seo Min-jae was caught after posting on social media that she had used drugs with him.
In March 2023, Nam Tae-hyun was caught drunk driving in Seoul and was fined six million won (about $4,295).
