In a Facebook post, the former senator thanked the JIL for their trust and support.
“Maraming salamat sa endorsement ng Jesus is Lord Church sa posisyon ng Senador. Maraming salamat sa tiwala at suporta (Thank you very much for the endorsement of the Jesus is Lord Church for the position of senator. Thank you very much for the trust and support),” he wrote.
“Many thanks to Sen. Joel Villanueva for arranging the meeting with the JIL National Executive Committee. And of course, to Bro. Eddie, who remains one of our country's spiritual leaders,” he added.
In a separate statement, Aquino said JIL’s endorsement will boost his winnability in next week’s polls.
Just recently, JIL has initially endorsed five senatorial candidates namely Pia Cayetano, Ping Lacson, Manny Pacquiao, Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, and Kiko Pangilinan.
Meanwhile, the former senator was also endorsed by local officials of Butuan City when he attended the Team One Butuan’s Miting de Avance on Wednesday, May 7.
Incumbent Mayor Ronnie Lagnada, incumbent Vice Mayor and mayoral candidate Law Fortun, and the whole Team One Butuan slate expressed their support for Aquino, who is currently inside the Magic 12 of pre-election surveys.
“Sa mga nais tulungan si Senator Bam, ito na po ang last two minutes. Apat na araw na lang ang pangangampanya, kailangan na kailangan ko po ang tulong niyo (To those who want to help Senator Bam, this is the last two minutes. There are only four days left in the campaign period, I really need your help),” he told the audience.
“Kung puwede po, kumatok sa mga kapitbahay, mag-text sa mga kaibigan, mag-reach out tayo at pakisabi na lang si Senator Bam Aquino, huwag kalimutan sa Lunes (If you can, knock on your neighbors’ doors, text your friends, reach out and say do not forget Bam Aquino on Monday),” he added.
Aquino, who was celebrating his birthday, was also serenaded by the Butuan audience with a “Happy Birthday” song.
