Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson on Thursday said that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has asked the support of governors, particularly those running unopposed, to help three lagging senatorial candidates of the administration Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas win on Monday.

Lacson said the President, in a meeting on May 5, asked them to push Manny Pacquiao, Francis Tolentino, and Benjamin Abalos Jr.

“Kailangan daw tulungan (They must be helped),” Lacson said, adding that the rest of the slate appears to be doing well in recent surveys.
Lacson said Marcos has let them decide if they will support the reelection of his sister, Sen. Imee Marcos.
“As far as the President is concerned, bahala na daw kami (It’s up to you),” Lacson said.
Lacson openly backs independent senatorial candidates Francis Pangilinan and Bam Aquino.
He has not yet fully disclosed his list of endorsed candidates but reminded voters of the importance of participating in the elections, especially in areas where candidates are unopposed, as there is a tendency for the electorate not to vote.
