DOJ Sec Remulla to VP Duterte: Attend hearing on charges of inciting to sedition, grave threats
By Jeff Damicog
The Vice President was charged criminally over the alleged threats she made against President Marcos, First Laday Liza Araneta Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
The NBI conducted its own probe on the statements made by Duterte in November 2024 during a press conference. The Vice President was reported as saying that in the event she dies, she has already instructed someone to kill Marcos, the First Lady and Romualdez. She was also quoted as saying that her statement “is not a joke.”
In an interview, Remulla said: “I hope she (the Vice President) attends kasi Karapatan n’ya (because it is her right.)”
Remulla suddenly back pedalled and said: “Pwedeng hindi siya mag attend (She may not also attend). She knows that. She’s a lawyer.”
During the probe conducted by the NBI, Duterte repeatedly snubbed the summons issued by the bureau which sought from her explanations concerning her “threats.”
