Senior Citizens Party-list Rep. Rodolfo Ordanes has gained the endorsement of over 50,000 elderly residents of Novaliches, Quezon City's 5th district on Wednesday, May 7.
The senior residents hailed Ordanes' representation of their sector in the 19th Congress, even as they backed his bid for reelection.
"Ito lamang ang aming paraan upang maisakatuparan ang aming mga pangarap, (This is our own way of achieving what we have hope for)" Louie Laoit, president of the Liga ng mga Senior Citizen said.
Laoit said that hey saw in Ordanes a true public servant.
"Ipinakikita niya talaga ang kanyang pagmamalasakit sa sektor na kanyang kinakatawan (He really shows his compassion for the sector that he represents)" the group president added.
Ordanes, the group said, has even partnered with 5th district congressional candidate Rose Lin, through her foundation for the establishment of Hemodialysis Center located at GD Plaza, No. 717 Quirino Highway in Brgy San Bartolome, Novaliches. The facility will offer free treatment to those in need.
"Napakalaking bagay ito, para sa amin. Dahil libre ang gamutan sa nasabing dialysis center, (This is really big for us. Because the dialysis center will offer its services free of charge)," said Marcelo Macasinag, the group's vice president.
According to Renato Briones, the league secretary, there are over 50,000 senior citizens in their district, which composed of 14 barangays (villages).
Briones added that in their village alone, in Barangay Gulod, there are 37 senior citizen chapter organizations that will surely carry Senior Citizen Party-list and Ordanes.
The lawmaker is eyeing his second term in the coming May 12 elections.
Ordanes vowed to continue to serve the sector by providing more facilities for senior citizens in the country.
