Philippine fashion takes center stage in Milan with mentorship initiative
By MB Business
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), Philippine Fashion Coalition (PFC), and LIT Fashion Consultancy have joined forces to launch the FASHIONPhilippines Milan Mentorship Program 2025 — a bold new platform to champion Filipino designers and brands on the world stage.
The initiative will feature a curated exhibition of 10 Filipino designers and brands at the prestigious Fondazione Sozzani in Milan, from September 23 to 25, 2025. The exhibition marks a milestone moment, placing Filipino creativity alongside global fashion greats like Yayoi Kusama and Maison Martin Margiela.
Beyond the showcase, selected designers will undergo intensive mentorship with a panel led by Fondazione Sozzani Creative Director and Milan Fashion Week International New Talent and Brand Ambassador Sara Sozzani Maino, alongside international experts in fashion education, retail, and creative direction.
DTI Secretary Cris Roque, CITEM Executive Director Leah Pulido-Ocampo, PFC Chair Carissa Cruz-Evangelista, and LIT Consultancy’s Tetta Ortiz-Matera all emphasize the program’s mission: to open global opportunities for Filipino talent through strategic exposure, mentorship, and market access.
Applications are open until June 14, 2025, via FAME+ website, with finalists to be announced the same month.
