Last hurrah! VP Sara's campaign efforts for 'Duter10' bets shift to higher gear
With less than a week before the end of the campaign period, Vice President Sara Duterte is finding herself hard at work campaigning for her father’s “Duter10” senatorial bets.

The official said in a media interview on Saturday night, May 3, that she will be barnstorming the Island Province, Zamboanga Sibugay, and North Cotabato in the following days.
She has yet to join her father’s Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan’s (PDP-Laban) bets on the campaign trail, but the Vice President revealed she might be present for the Miting de Avance on May 8.
“March (May) 8 supposedly. March (May) 8 supposedly ang Miting de Avance ng PDP pero nahihirapan ako ayusin yung schedule ko sa daming --- sa dami ng mga candidates na nagre-request na mabisita yung kanilang lugar at makakampanya para sa sampung senador (the Miting de Avance of PDP but I’m having a hard time fixing my schedule because there are a lot—a lot of candidates are requesting me to visit their areas to campaign for the 10 senators),” she said.
Duterte shared that she doesn’t know yet which province she would visit after North Cotabato as her team is currently fixing her schedule.
“Ang huling-huli ko, supposedly, is yung mass (The last one, supposedly, is the mass), holy mass for peaceful elections sa Davao na yun (that’s in Davao) the day before --- wala ng kampanya yun (there’s no more campaign then), the day before election day,” she noted.
The Vice President has started campaigning for her father’s, former president Rodrigo Duterte, senatorial bets after she arrived home last month from The Hague, where the former chief executive was detained on charges of crimes against humanity of murder.
While she earlier said she wouldn’t endorse anyone for the May 2025 midterm elections, she backtracked after her father’s arrest. The former president also asked her to campaign for the PDP-Laban bets as a favor.
The elder Duterte has been pushing for the candidacies of reelectionist Senators Bato dela Rosa and Bong Go, lawyers Jimmy Bondoc, Vic Rodriguez, JV Hinlo, and Raul Lambino, actor Philip Salvador, SAGIP Partylist Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, Pastor Apollo Quibuloy, and Dr. Richard Mata.
While it did not receive the blessings of her father, the Vice President also endorsed presidential sister Senator Imee Marcos and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar in addition to the “Duter10.”
During the interview, she also underscored the importance of ensuring that there is enough opposition in the Senate to go against the Marcos administration.
“Kasi ‘pag karamihan ay oposisyon ang nanalo, ay meron na talagang magtatanong at hahadlang sa mga maling ginagawa ng administrasyon. Kaya napakahalaga ng eleksyon na ito para sa bayan (Because if most of the opposition wins, someone will question and counter the wrongdoings of the administration. That’s why this election is very important for the country),” she explained.
Meanwhile, the younger Duterte said that even though her UniTeam tandem with President Marcos didn’t pan out, she doesn’t regret running alongside him in 2022.
“No, because I am vice president right now. So I do not regret anything. I am able to help alot of people. I’m able to help people nationwide because my office is a national office. On that note, I am --- I am thankful. I am thankful that the 2022 elections happened and that I became vice president,” she stressed.
“And I think this was really bound to happen. The 2022 elections was bound to happen so that everyone can see what a Marcos can do to a country. And that is just bring us to the road to perdition,” she furthered.
In earlier interviews, the Vice President issued an apology to her supporters for endorsing Marcos.
