Ronie Suan, known as Boy Tapang in Facebook and YouTube, was detained at the Alcoy Municipal Police Station.

Police Capt. Jerry Magsayo, officer-in-charge of the Alcoy Municipal Police Station, said Suan was arrested after his 21-year-old live-in reported to the police that she was beaten up by the vlogger.

She said the incident happened around 5 p.m. on Monday, March 31. She went to the police hours later at past 11 p.m.

Suan was arrested past midnight on Tuesday, April 1, in his house in Barangay Daanlungsod.

Police said the couple argued when Suan caught her with vape.

She told police that it was not the first time that she was beaten up by Suan. Jealousy was the cause of previous fights, she said.

The couple had been living together for a year.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 were filed against Suan, who was expected to post bail on Wednesday, April 2, police said.

Suan has 4.8 million followers on Facebook and 2.35 million subscribers on YouTube.

He was able to build a strong following on social media by doing extreme stunts such as eating mushrooms that sprouted from animal waste.
