
Officials of the San Juan City local government on Friday, March 21, broke ground for two of its latest infrastructure projects - a sports facility and government center - aimed at improving services to the people and sports development for the city's youth.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, together with other city government officials, led the groundbreaking ceremony for the city's Makabagong San Juan Sports Center and Makabagong San Juan Local Government Center.
According to Zamora, the 4-storey sports center will house the following facilities:
• Parking area
• Area for relief operations
• 5-lane, 25-meter Swimming Pool
• Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Aikido area
• Pickleball area
• Badminton interchangeable with Sepak Takraw area
• Table Tennis area
• Boxing area
• Chess area
• Billiard area
• Darts area
• General area for all other sports such as Arnis
• Basketball / Volleyball stadium with more than 1,700 seating capacity which can be used for other events as well
• Jogging Trail (1.10m wide, 126.28m track)
• Fitness Gym
"Sa pagpapatayo ng pasilidad na ito, masisiguro natin ang pagkakaroon ng Lungsod ng San Juan ng isang maayos at dekalidad na lugar na kumpleto sa kagamitan para sa sports development at community activities (With the construction of this sports center, we can ensure that the city of San Juan will have a proper and top-quality facility complete with equipment and amenities focusing on strengthening the sports development of San Juaneños)," Zamora explained.

On the other hand, the 5-story government center to be built in Barangay Little Baguio will serve as a city hall annex that will house government offices and facilities to help streamline the delivery of social services to residents.
The building will feature a roof deck, sky garden, and a wooden covered basketball court that can be used by city government employees and residents.
