Cabbie hurt in Cebu City robbery


CEBU CITY – A 53-year-old taxi driver was allegedly robbed and stabbed by two brothers in Barangay Bulacao here on Saturday morning, March 15.

Police identified the victim as Glicerio Mier, a resident of Barangay Vito, Minglanilla town, Cebu province and driver of CTC taxi.

Investigation said two men flagged Mier's taxi in front of a beerhouse.

The suspects asked to be taken to Barangay Bulacao but when they reached a dark area, one of them stabbed the victim in the shoulder and armpit with a knife.

The injured driver fought back and the suspect dropped the knife.

The suspect’s companion grabbed the driver by the neck and he took the victim’s bag containing P6,000 earnings and the taxi keys.

The suspects fled and the victim sought help from the police who took him to the hospital.

Police have identified the suspects based on the taxi’s dashcam.

Lawmen said the suspects are two brothers who were also allegedly involved in a separate stabbing incident.

Police are pursuing the suspects.
