Government anti-narcotics operatives destroyed on Wednesday, March 12, some P2.3 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants in three plantation sites during the eradication operation in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 1 Director Joel Plaza said that the eradication team uprooted 11,500 fully grown marijuana plants in the said plantation sites covering a combined area of 4,000 square meters.

Right after the marijuana plants were plucked out of the soil, Plaza noted that they were destroyed and burned on-site immediately.

However, there was no report if any cultivator or maintainer of the three marijuana plantation sites were arrested during the eradication operation.

The operation was carried out by the PDEA RO I-Ilocos Sur Provincial Office (PDEA RO I-ISPO), Sugpon Police Station, Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit (ISPPO-PIU) and 2nd Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force.
