Bam Aquino pushes for more jobs in the countryside

If he succeeds in his Senate comeback bid in the May 2025 midterm polls, former senator Bam Aquino promised to bring more jobs to the provinces to address jobs mismatch and stop the need for jobseekers to leave for the city.

In his dialogue for the youth event at the Dalubhasaan ng Lungsod ng Lucena (DLL) campus in Lucena City on Monday, March 10, the former senator and youth leader underscored the need to generate employment opportunities in the provinces so the youth would no longer need to go to Metro Manila to work.
 

But this is only possible if there will be proper coordination between the students and the employers.
 

“Sa ibang mga bansa, dahil integrated yung pag-aaral at pag-i-empleyo, integrated, coordinated ‘yung mga posible nagbibigay ng employment at iyong ating mga kurso, at may kalayaan ng mga eskwelahan, baguhin ‘yung mga kurso, makikita natin mas madali iyong proseso ng pag-aaral patungo sa pagtatrabaho (In other countries, because the academic and employment are integrated, the possible employment and courses are also coordinated, and there is also freedom in schools to change the courses, we can see there is an easier process of studying toward employment),” he said.
 

The coordination between the academe and the employers would also address the problems of jobs mismatch.
 

It will also stop the need for the youth to go to Manila to seek employment.
 

“Hindi na po kailangan lumabas ng Lucena para makapagtrabaho (You don’t need to get out of Lucena to work),” Aquino told some 1,000 students who attended the event.
 

“Dito mismo, magiging malinaw iyong paraan natin kung paano makahanap ng siguradong trabaho dito po sa ating lugar (Here, we will see a clearer way how to look for guaranteed jobs in our own localities),” he added.
 

The former senator is running under the platform of free college education and guaranteed employment.
