Abalos said the Mindoro-Batangas Super Bridge Project will usher the full economic growth and development in Mindoro and other provinces in the Mimaropa region (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) by boosting trade, tourism, and local industries.

Abalos said the bridge, once completed, is expected to improve accessibility for tourists to Mindoro’s pristine beaches and diving spots, particularly in the tourist town of Puerto Galera in the northern part of Mindoro.

He was the guest of honor and speaker when the town of Pola marked the second anniversary of the oil spill that struck the province in 2023.

The marine disaster affected 10 municipalities and Calapan City and reduced the livelihood of more or less 42,400 fisherfolk due to fishing ban.

Abalos said he is confident that the project has been thoroughly studied by the National Economic Development Authority in collaboration with other concerned government agencies as well as local government units in Oriental and Occidental Mindoro.

He also cited two other big and important projects on the island –  the rehabilitation of the Pinamalayan airport and the Mindoro Island Circumferential Road that will connect the two provinces and boost tourism and economic activities.

“If I will be fortunate to be elected in the Senate, these projects will be included in my priority legislative measures for its realization with the help of both chambers of Congress and finally, the Executive department,” Abalos said.
