Rizal student athletes lead in reg'l tourney with 81 gold medals


Rizal province is leading in the ongoing sports competition in the province among student athletes from various parts of Southern Tagalog Region.

With 81 golds, 49 silvers and 40 bronzes, Team Rizal, student athletes representing the 13 municipalities in Rizal Province, are leading in the medal tally on Thursday, March 6, in the on-going Regional Athletics Association Meet (RAAM) 2025.

The 170 medals collected by the members of Team Rizal as of 10 p.m. on March 6, made them the lead in terms of the medal count in the RAAM 2025, a sports competition for student athletes among the 23 schools division in Calabarzon which is held in various parts of Rizal Province until March 8. 

In the partial count released by the Department of Education- Calabarzon (Cavite,Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) as of 10 p.m., Team Rizal, also known as Skylarks, got 81 gold, 49 silver and 40 bronze medals.

Second in the overall tally was Batangas Province which got 29 golds, 36 silvers, and 33 bronzes, or a total of 98 medals. 

Third placer was Dasmarinas Cavite, Sta. Rosa on fourth; and Quezon Province, fifth.

The sports event is being held in different locations in Rizal Province until March 8. 

Overall winners in the regional meet will represent Calabarzon in the 2025 Palarong Pambansa which will happen at Laoag in Ilocos Norte on May 20 to July 2.
