According to the Public Information Office (PIO), the city government has allowed personnel to wear breathable attire, including shorts, rubber shoes, and vests, to help them stay cool while on duty.
To prevent dehydration, water containers will be installed at designated stations to give them easy access to drinking water.
The local government is also encouraging personnel to seek immediate medical attention from the City Health Department or nearby hospitals if they experience heat-related illnesses.
Additionally, the city has implemented an adjusted work schedule with two shifts: 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
This change aims to minimize prolonged exposure to the hottest hours of the day.
“These are just initial initiatives to support our dedicated frontliners on the roads. We recognize their sacrifices and unwavering commitment to public safety, no matter the season. We salute them for their service,” the city government said in a statement.
The local government continues to explore additional ways to improve the working conditions for its employees and ensure their health and wellbeing while rendering public service.
