Kris Aquino made her first public appearance two years after she went to the US to treat autoimmune conditions.

Kris attended the People Asia People of the Year 2025 awards night in support of her friend, fashion designer Michael Leyva on Feb. 25.

The appearance of Kris coincided with the 39th anniversary of the People Power Revolution, a peaceful uprising that catapulted her mom, former President Cory Aquino into power.

"What a perfect coming out," Kris said when reminded about People Power.

Asked why Michael is special to her, Kris said: "He's acting like the dad to Bim and the dad to kuya. He's more than just a friend. He's like the younger brother I never had. There are people who say na 'I will be there for you' or 'maaasahan mo ako.' But Michael has proven that so many times and in so many ways."

Kris, 54, apologized for being late to the event with Michael.

"I'm sorry that we're late. They had trouble waking me up (because of medicines). I actually thought today is the 24th and tomorrow pa 'yung 25. He was the one who told me (Michael)," she said.

Kris added: "I want to congratulate him talaga."

When asked how she was, Kris said: "I'm not so okay."
