A colorful Lion and Dragon dance performed on the lobby entrance driveway of the Lanson Place Mall of Asia, was the hotel’s way of signaling the start of the Lunar New Year - and doing so in style, while promoting cross-cultural values, understanding, and appreciation. Lanson Place General Manager Nils Rothbarth took the lead with the dotting of the lion’s eye ceremony, a ritual that symbolizes the awakening of the lion and the start of the new year. The Lion and Dragon Dance followed, and when the activities were brought up the Cyan Modern Kitchen, the prosperity toss, Ye Sang toss, was a lively way of getting the guests involved in a ceremony that talks of wealth and good fortune. For those inclined to a more studious approach, the talk of astrologer Jill Andrea Gepilano proved to be a fascinating review of what each zodiac sign has in store for them this Year of the Wood Snake.

Busier than the dancers behind the Lion and Dragon dance, and covering more distance, was Peggy Angeles, SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. Executive Vice-President. She started the morning at Lanson Place, had to rush to Conrad for their Lunar New Year event, and made it back to Lanson to enjoy her lunch. Thank you for having us of The Manila Bulletin at your wonderful buffet lunch, Lanson Place!
