The Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) is calling for sustained protest actions until the demand to transmit to the House Speaker and the Senate the impeachment raps against Vice President Sara Duterte is met.
The group on Saturday, Feb. 1, called for continuous rallies against Duterte as the Congress is set to adjourn sessions this week ahead of the upcoming elections.
"Marcos should not prevent the supposedly independent Congress from endorsing the impeachment. He should focus on alleviating the hardships of working families. At the minimum, he should certify the wage hike bill as a priority measure," BAYAN said.
It also called on its members to prepare for a vigil in front of Batasan Complex--home of the congressmen--to push for Duterte's ouster as well as urged them to hold a bigger and broader protests in time for the EDSA anniversary this month.
This would highlight the demand for the scrapping of all forms of pork barrel, and to condemn the deeply-entrenched corruption and continuing tyranny in the country.

The group also hailed its Jan. 31 protest, which it said "reflect[ed] public dissatisfaction and outrage over the inept leadership of Marcos".
"As families reel from the cost of living crisis, Marcos and his allies have designed and passed a budget law with bloated pork barrel funds intended for vote buying," the group said.
"Meanwhile, the citizen-led impeachment initiative aimed at pursuing accountability against corrupt officials like VP Sara Duterte is hostaged by the self-serving machinations of Marcos," it added.
