American pop-rock band Maroon 5 delivered a spectacular performance in the Philippines as they kicked off the first leg of their Asia Tour at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Jan. 29.

Maroon 5's fourth visit to the Philippines was presented by Live Nation Philippines and co-presented by the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB).

Before the Grammy award-winning band hit stage, performances from American alternative-rock band Culture Wars and DJ Mailbox set the mood for the audience.

The full house arena went wild (including me) as the lights went off, and the band started to walk up on stage. Hitting the first note of the song "Animals", Maroon 5's lead vocalist Adam Levine hyped up the audience by saying, "How are we doing, Manila?"

As a fan of the band since I was in grade school being able to watch Maroon 5 for the second time was a living proof that this band sure knows how to put a good show.

The night continued as they performed the song "One More Night", then it was followed by a timeless classic, "This Love." As the song ended, Adam walked to the centerstage.

Before performing "Stereo Hearts," Adam quickly engaged the audience to build excitement.

"It’s so good to be back. I have a question for you, very important question. Can you do me a big favor? Everybody who’s sitting down, stand up. Don’t you feel better?" Adam told the crowd, encouraging them to stand and sing along through the night.

"We know here in the Philippines. You are the best singers. No one sings louder at Maroon 5 concerts," Adam added.

"Stereo Hearts" was then followed by banger songs "Harder to Breath," and "Lucky Strike" where the longtime guitarist James Valentine walked up the centerstage to get close to the fans.

The night became even more exciting as they played fan-favorite songs "Sunday Morning, "Payphone," and "What Lovers Do," where the whole arena sang along with the band.

Showing no signs of slowing down, Maroon 5 went on with a medley of "Makes Me Wonder," PJ Morton's song "Heavy," and "Maps" creating a jazz-pop arrangement.

Aside from the Pinoy fans, Adam also took the time to thank their keyboardist PJ Morton for joining them on the Asia tour.

It was then followed by the mellow vibes, where the band performed the song "Memories," which they dedicated to one of their former band manager, Jordan Feldstein.

With the overwhelming support from the audience, Maroon 5 went on with the song "Don't Wanna Know," from their Red Blue Pills album.

From mellow vibe, the band went back to playing their banger songs "Love Somebody" and "Moves Like Jagger", where I danced and sang along.

With a quick break from the stage, Adam returned by singing an acoustic version of another fan-fave "She Will Be Loved." According to Adam, performing this song was definitely one of his favorites.

As a testament to his love for all their Filipino fans, Maroon 5 closed their concert with the encore songs, "Girls Like You" and "Sugar."

Then Adam gathered his colleagues for a final bow and exclaimed, "Thank you so much Manila. We are Maroon 5!"
