Taguig Police arrest 2 men for illegal gun, shabu in Taguig


Police operatives arrested two men for possession of an illegal firearm and shabu in Taguig on Jan. 24. 

Operatives from Taguig Police Substation 4 nabbed the suspects identified as alias Jake, 37, and alias Alex, 32, in Barangay Sta. Ana. 

Jake was arrested for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Republic Act 10591 Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and the Omnibus Election Code. 

However, during his arrest, Jake drew his firearm towards the police officers and fired while he was running away. The gun failed to fire. 

According to the Southern Police District (SPD), the police officers defended themselves and shot the suspect, who was hit in the left waist and was arrested. He is confined at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital.

The police seized eight plastic sachets of shabu, weighing 83 grams valued at P564,000, a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver loaded with four pieces of live ammunition, a motorcycle, and assorted IDs. 

The two arrested suspects are in police custody,
