The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police (PNP) destroyed fully grown marijuana plants worth P3,640,000 during an "eradication operation" in Kibungan, Benguet on Thursday, Jan. 23.

PDEA Regional Director Joel B. Plaza said the anti-narcotics team uprooted and destroyed 18,200 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants discovered in three plantation sites with an area of approximately 2,500 square meters.

"The marijuana plants were destroyed and burned on-site," Plaza noted.

Plaza pointed out that the marijuana plantation sites were discovered through the rigorous search of PDEA and other anti-narcotics authorities in the mountainous area in Barangay Badeo.

The operation was conducted by the PDEA-Ilocos Norte Provincial Office (PDEA RO I-INPO), PDEA Cordillera Administrative Region-Benguet Provincial Office (PDEA CAR-BPO) and PNP's Kibungan Police Station.
