Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said on Tuesday, Jan. 21, that City Ordinance 01-2025, or the "Pagbibigay-Luwag sa Buwis Negosyo ng mga Sari-Sari Store at Karinderyang Malabueno," took effect after its approval by the City Council on Jan. 7.
As we continue to provide services, we also ensure the improvement of the lives and livelihoods of Malabueno residents),” Sandoval said.
I am pleased to announce that sari-sari store and carinderia owners no longer need to pay taxes this year. This was implemented after hearing your requests),” she added.
The tax exemption applies to all sari-sari stores and carinderias in the city, except those engaged in additional business activities beyond their primary purpose, such as sari-sari stores also operating as car repair shops or carinderias doubling as karaoke bars.
The Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) clarified that for business owners who have already renewed their permits for 2025, the tax exemption will take effect starting in 2026.
However, it emphasized that the exemption only covers taxes; business owners must still pay regulatory fees and other charges for 2025.
The BPLO urged business owners, who have yet to renew their business permits to visit its office at the Malabon City Hall third floor for assistance with tax discount and bring a copy of their tax order of payment.
The city government remains your steadfast ally. This initiative aims to ease your burden and show our appreciation for the vital role you play in society),” Sandoval said.
The tax exemption is a gesture of gratitude to entrepreneurs who contribute to improving the economy while providing services to their fellow Malabueno residents. This will surely help them meet the needs of their own families),” City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete.
