La Trinidad, Benguet records 12.9°C on January 20; lowest so far this ‘amihan’ season


The municipality of La Trinidad in Benguet registered the country’s coldest temperature so far this 2024-2025 northeast monsoon or “amihan” season on Monday, Jan. 20, with a reading of 12.9 degrees Celsius (°C), said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The temperature was recorded early in the morning, influenced by the cool weather brought about by the amihan.

In addition, the following 10 stations also recorded the lowest temperatures for the day: Baguio City (15℃); Malaybalay, Bukidnon (19℃);  Itbayat, Batanes (19.3℃); Abucay, Bataan (20.3℃); Tanay, Rizal (20.3℃); Casiguran, Aurora (20.4℃); Coron, Palawan (20.8℃); Sinait, Ilocos Sur (21.2℃); Calayan, Cagayan (21.5℃); and San Jose, Occidental Mindoro (21.5℃).

PAGASA said the amihan will continue to bring clouds and rains to Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains from the amihan.
