2 dead, 8 hurt in Laguna van-motorcycle collision

ALAMINOS, Laguna – Two drivers were killed and eight Sangguniang Kabataan officials from Tabaco City, Albay were injured in a head-on collision in Barangay 2 here before dawn on Monday, Jan. 20.

TWO drivers were killed and eight Sangguniang Kabataan officials from Tabaco City, Albay were injured in a head-on collision in Barangay 2, Alaminos, Laguna on Monday.

Police identified one of the fatalities as Edward Ruelo, 27, motorcycle driver, from Calamba City, Laguna.

Investigation said a Nissan Urvan with license plates NKD-8693 overtook a vehicle in a blind curve and rammed Ruelo’s motorcycle and a concrete barrier.

Ruelo and the unidentified van driver were taken to a hospital in San Pablo City where they were declared dead from serious injuries.

Injured were Ailyn B. Borbe, 20; Rommel C. Carullo 21; Joseph Beren, 24; John Philip Borais, 25; Aira Mae C. Cena 20; Aristedes B. Sajuela, 31; Dariel John Bos Almonte, 25, and Joven C. Borbe, 21. The victims were taken to various hospitals in San Pablo City.
