Over P400 million worth of dangerous drugs confiscated during various operations in Eastern Visayas were destroyed through thermal decomposition, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
In a statement, PDEA said a total of 58,930.0371 grams of shabu with market value of P400,724,252.96; a total of 0.1123 gram of marijuana worth P13,486; and assorted expired medicines valued at P9,871.60 were destroyed during the Jan. 17 activity.
The destruction process was conducted as mandated under Republic Act (RA) 9165, which empowers the PDEA in the disposal of confiscated drugs and various paraphernalia.
PDEA Regional Director Bryan B. Babang led the destruction of the drug and non-drug evidence and expired medicines at the Heaven's Gateway Chapel in Barangay Campetic, Palo, Leyte.
