Binay cited the importance of public-private partnerships (PPPs) and good governance as drivers of local tourism growth.

On Jan. 7, during a general assembly with the members of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), she said that PPPs have played an instrumental role in Makati’s progress, from healthcare advancements to infrastructure development.

She also attributed Makati's successes to effective governance, highlighting transparency, accountability, and a dedication to serving the community.

“Good governance is the foundation upon which health, education, and economic growth are built. It ensures that resources are used wisely, systems are streamlined, and every decision is made with the welfare of the community at its core,” she said.

The mayor emphasized that to boost the local tourism industry, she wanted to promote a more business-friendly environment, where local governments can engage in strategic partnerships with airlines and other related businesses to boost tourism infrastructure and services.

She added that she would advocate for regular salaries for elected barangay officials, who currently only receive honoraria, as part of her plan to improve governance.

The mayor also cited the need to impose professional qualifications for certain barangay officials, like barangay treasurers, who should be accountants to better manage the funds that could be used for tourism projects.
