HUAWEI, the multinational technology company, has officially launched its latest flagship foldable smartphone, the Mate X6, in the Philippines, marking a significant milestone in the country's rapidly evolving mobile technology landscape.
The Mate X6 features a quad-curve foldable body, weighing 239 grams and measuring 9.85mm when folded. Huawei's Quad-Curve Overflow Display redefines smartphone design with its elegant screen that gently curves over all four edges—top, bottom, left, and right. This unique feature creates a truly borderless aesthetic, enhancing both the visual experience and the device's ergonomic feel. Inspired by the smooth, continuous water flow, this groundbreaking design debuted with the Huawei P40 series, delivering a harmonious blend of functionality and style.
According to Steph Co, Marketing Manager of HUAWEI Philippines, the X6 offers two display options: a 6.45-inch OLED cover screen with a resolution of 2440×1080 pixels and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits and a 7.93-inch OLED main screen with a resolution of 2440×2240 pixels and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. Both screens support a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and are powered by HUAWEI X-True Display technology with HDR Vivid.
Luca Li, Product Expert for HUAWEI Smartphones, added that the device is built with Kunlun Glass 2nd Generation, enhancing drop resistance 25 times compared to standard glass. "Its carbon fiber inner screen plate offers 380 GPa extrusion resistance, and the advanced precision hinge is made of 1,900 MPa ultra-high-strength steel, ensuring a compact and gapless fold." Li demonstrated this by placing a sheet of bond paper on the X6, folding the device, and holding the paper by one end, with the X6 hanging securely from the other end without slipping. Additionally, the Mate X6 has an IPX8 water resistance rating, protecting it from water damage up to two meters deep.
The Mate X6 is equipped with a quad-camera system, including a 50 MP Ultra Aperture Camera with a variable aperture of f/1.4–f/4.0 and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 40 MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera, a 48 MP Telephoto Macro Camera with 4× optical zoom and OIS, and a 1.5M Spectral Channels Ultra Chroma Camera. The front cameras are 8 MP for both folded and unfolded modes.
Powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset, the Mate X6 comes with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. It houses a 5,110 mAh battery supporting 66 W wired and 50 W wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge and 7.5 W reverse wireless charging.
