A resident was injured, while 100 families were displaced in a fire that broke out at a residential area on Earnshaw Street in Sampaloc, Manila, early Thursday, Jan. 16.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the 30-year-old victim sustained fracture on his left shoulder and laceration on his left knee.
BFP said the fire started at 5:08 a.m. on the second floor of a house owned by alias "Botchok".
The fire was immediately raised to the second alarm at 5:10 a.m.
It reached the third alarm at 5:20 a.m. and fourth alarm at 5:30 a.m.
The fire was declared under control at 6:57 a.m. and by 8:08 a.m., the fire was fully extinguished.
Authorities confirmed that the fire caused an estimated P400,000 in damage.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage.
The power in the affected area was also temporarily interrupted for further investigation into the fire’s cause.
