Suspect in murder of teenage girl in Quezon nabbed


Police arrested on Tuesday afternoon the suspect in the recent murder of a 15-year-old girl in Mulanay, Quezon.

Police identified the suspect Marcelino V. Alcantara, 48.

The suspect was charged with murder for killing Grade 10 student Angelita Par whose body was found in a forested area in Barangay Anonang on Jan. 3.

Investigation said that the suspect, who was drunk, tried to rape Par but she resisted and was stabbed to death.

The suspect fled and allegedly threatened to kill the two uncles of the victim.

Authorities spotted the suspect in Barangay Magsaysay and apprehended him. 

Mulanay police chief Police Major Joseph Ian Java said the suspect also faces cases for grave threats, and violation of Batas Pambansa 6 (illegal possession of bladed weapons).

Java added that they awaited the release of the warrant for the suspect to prevent him from being released from jail.
