The Hotel101 Group is set to open a hotel in Spain this year and working on expanding in Japan and the United States.
The hotel chain started in Iloilo City with Injap Tower that opened in 2014 and the tallest building in Iloilo City that time.
“More than 10 years later, we have built a proudly Filipino brand with Hotel101, which has become the first Filipino hotel brand to go international,” said Hotel101 Group General Manager Charley S. Magabo.
According to Magabo, Hotel101-Madrid in Madrid, Spain will be the first Hotel101 to operate outside the Philippines. Other hotels overseas will be Hotel101-Niseko in Hokkaido, Japan and the Hotel101-Los Angeles in California, United States.
In the country, Hotel101 has Hotel101-Manila, Hotel101-Fort, Jinjiang Inn-Ortigas, Jinjiang Inn-Makati, and Jinjiang Inn-Boracay Station 1.
It is awaiting the completion of the Hotel101 in Davao and the Cebu-Mactan Airport.
Magabo said that Hotel101 has come a long way when it started in Iloilo City with Injap Tower named after Edgar “Injap” Sia II – the founder of Mang Inasal later acquired by Jollibee Foods Corp. owned by businessman Tony Tan Caktiong.
The partnership grew to DoubleDragon Corp. now behind the hotel chain.
