My Korean celebrity-approved salon experience in Seoul

And Jennyhouse products to recreate the look back in the Philippines

I spent the holiday break with my family in South Korea, and the very first appointment I booked before flying to Seoul was at a salon. I figured it would be the perfect time to get a haircut and a fresh look before 2025.

I’ve been using Jennyhouse hair care products, and they are really top-tier, so it was a no-brainer to visit their salon in Cheongdam Hill, Gangnam, to get my hair done. After all, Korean celebrities like Son ye-jin, Song Ji-hyo, Han So-hee, Kim Tae-ri have all been spotted there, so I knew I’ll be in good hands.

As soon as I was dropped off, I was amazed to discover that this branch is a five-story building that houses over 100 stylists, with each floor catering to different client needs. The first floor houses the reception, waiting area, and a makeup room (primarily for weddings). The second floor offers nail services, while the third and fourth floors are dedicated to hair and head spa treatments. Last but not least, the fifth floor is reserved for male clients, offering both hair and head spa services. I’m impressed that they also have valet service and parking slots, too!

After the tour, they asked me to remove my coat (it was around -8°C during my stay) and leave my valuables in a locker. I was then given a robe to change into before heading to my chair for the consultation with stylist Ji Hoon. My bleached highlights had already faded, my hair was clearly damaged from all the coloring, and I was in desperate need of a haircut. They definitely had their work cut out for them that afternoon.

Private room for makeup session; Hair spa treatment

My total time at Jenny House Salon was about four hours, which included adding highlights to cover the approximately four inches of hair root growth. Then came the hair spa treatment, which was done in their 180-degree reclining chairs imported from Japan—each costing KRW 20 million (around P800,000). I highly recommend their hair spa treatment. The massage was incredibly relaxing, and the best part was that you didn’t have to get up from the reclining chair. Just lie back, enjoy the treatment, and let the steam work its magic.

Ready for my hair makeover; Stylist Ji Hoon cuts my hair

After the highlights, Ji Hoon finished off with a haircut and full color. He asked me how I usually style my hair, taking my lifestyle and preferences into account. As for the length? I told him to recommend whatever he thought would work best—even with the color, I left it all in his hands. And I have no regrets! Oh, and I also enjoyed complimentary drinks such as cold aloe juice and hot Solomon’s seal tea.

I was really impressed with his cut—it added so much volume. To be honest, most stylists I’ve worked with tend to recommend the same hair length for me, even for my bangs. But Ji Hoon’s cut gave me volume without needing to blow dry or use any styling products. It’s literally a wash-and-wear style. It also helped that I got the hair spa treatment, making my hair bouncy and healthy.

Check out my new look

To make sure I continue achieving this look back in the Philippines, I had to supplement it with their retail hair care products. Their Self-Up range is a healthy volume line featuring Cica or Centella Asiatica which is a plant extract that nourishes and strengthens hair, soothes scalp, and promotes hair growth. I’ve been using the Protein Ampoule, a hair protein booster, that is the line’s bestseller.

To maintain this look when I return to the Philippines, I made sure to continue using their retail hair care products. Their Self-Up range, designed for healthy volume, features Cica (Centella Asiatica), a plant extract known for nourishing and strengthening hair, soothing the scalp, and promoting hair growth. I’ve been using their Protein Ampoule, a hair protein booster and the line’s bestseller, to keep my hair in top shape.

And they are available here! Locally distributed ladies Terry Dy and Rachelle Stern, they share some of their personal favorites that are also bestsellers as well. “The Root Volume Fixer lifts the hair right from the roots, giving volume to my limp hair. I also love doing beach waves, and the Curling Serum gives them a shiny finish while keeping them from looking dry.”

When I don’t have time for a salon visit, I rely on their home kit hair dyes, which are so easy to use. Dy swears by their Premium Hair Color, “Aside from it being easy and convenient to use, it’s made with natural and safe ingredients that do not damage my hair. For less than a thousand peso, I get high-end salon quality colored hair at home. Jennyhouse has color shades for everyone.” Their bestsellers include Ash Vintage Khaki and Natural Brown.

What better way to kick off 2025 than with a fresh new hairstyle and rejuvenated, healthy, bouncy hair—thanks to this Korean celebrity-approved salon and their nourishing and volumizing hair products. As you plan your next trip to Seoul, get yourself familiar with their hair care line so you’re ready for the salon experience when you arrive in South Korea.
