The coastal town of Santa Catalina in Ilocos Sur will conduct a tsunami drill this month.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said this will enable the people to know what to do when a tsunami occurs after a magnitude-8 earthquake.
The local government released a route to three evacuation centers in nearby Vigan City and Bantay – Bantay Arcade in Bantay and Quirino Stadium and Farmers Livelihood Development Center in Vigan City.
Four coastal barangays in Santa Catalina, Cabittaogan, Subec, Paratong, and Tamorong are the most vulnerable.
A series of offshore earthquakes have been recorded in the sea of Santa Catalina Ilocos Sur in the past days.
The number has declined but MDRRMO head Janette Rabara said they remain on alert and will intensify preparedness measures.
