League titans San Beda and College of St. Benilde clash for an early solo lead on Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Game time is at 2:30 p.m. with the reigning champions Red Lions and last season's bronze medalists Blazers seeking to ride the momentum of their opening-day triumphs last Saturday, Sept. 7.
In those matches, San Beda blasted Lyceum, 79-63, while St. Benilde stunned last year’s bridesmaid Mapua, 78-65.
Bryan Sajonia, a prized recruit from Far Eastern University, is expected to carry the fight anew for San Beda after making his presence felt with a team-high 18-point production spiked by three triples against Lyceum.
Also slated to provide his offensive presence is veteran Yukien Andrada, who chipped in 13 points and six boards the last time.
San Beda coach Yuri Escueta and his stalwarts are welcoming the challenge of facing tough teams early in the preliminaries.
“Hirap ng sked namin, first two games, mabigat agad kalaban,” Escueta said.
St. Benilde coach Charles Tiu echoed the sentiment after having to thread the proverbial eye of the needle before overcoming the Cardinals.
“It was a good game. We started it on defense,” said Tiu on their opening game victory.
Tiu is casting his eyes on Allen Liwag, who previously suited up for Emilio Aguinaldo College, after dropping 23 points, 18 rebounds and 18 rebounds against Mapua, as well as former San Beda star Gab Cometa, who came off the bench and sizzled with 17 points.
Meanwhile, University of Perpetual Help and Jose Rizal University open their respective campaigns in their 11 a.m. tussle.
The Altas, now under the guidance of veteran coach Olsen Racela, will be parading with a young lineup in former NCAA juniors standouts Mark Gojo Cruz and Ruvic Danag following the exodus of key players like Jielo Razon, Jun Roque, Cyrus Nitura, Mark Denver Omega and Carlos Ferreras.
The Bombers also suffered key losses like Ry Dela Rosa and Agem Miranda and hoped to make a strong start.
