OCD-6 warns on scammer impersonating regional director

ILOILO CITY – The Office of Civil Defense-6 (Western Visayas) has warned that a scammer is using the name of Regional Director Raul Fernandez to solicit money for victims of tropical storm "Enteng."

“It has come to our attention that unscrupulous individuals are falsely using the name of OCD-6 Regional Director Raul Fernandez to solicit money or assistance, allegedly on behalf of victims of tropical storm ‘Enteng,’” said the OCD-6 in a public advisory.

Maria Cristina Ilustre-Mayor, OCD-6 public information office, said someone called a supplier in Negros Occidental province in behalf of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and Fernandez to ask financial aid for victims of Enteng.

“We strongly emphasize that neither RD Fernandez nor the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) engages in any form of direct solicitation from the public for aid or donations,” the OCD-6 said.

“If you encounter any suspicious activities, please report them immediately to your local police or the nearest OCD office,” OCD-6 added.
