Emilio Aguinaldo College drew strength from King Gurtiza in overtime as it edged Arellano University, 87-80, for its first win in NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Gurtiza drained six of the team’s 10 points in extra time including five straight points that put the Generals to an 82-79 lead with 2:52 to go.
It was enough to dictate the pace, silencing the Chiefs after split charities from Jeadan Ongotan in the final 1:25.
Gurtiza finished with 18 points spiked by three triples for the Generals, while Harvey Pagsanjan contributed 13 points and nine boards.
Trailing 71-75 with 1:19 to go, Wilmar Oftana and Gil Quinal’s back-to-back triples brought EAC to life for a 77-75 upperhand.
But a gusty drive from Maverick Vinoya against three EAC defenders with 5.2 seconds to go tied the game in the regulation.
EAC had a chance to win the game but attempts just bounced off the rim.
Then it was time for Gurtiza to shine.
Lorenz Capulong finished with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds for Arellano before he was ejected from the game in the last four minutes of the regulation after incurring his second technical foul.
