In another controversial transfer due to the nature of his situation, Padrigao finally made his debut in UST after being ruled ineligible to play in Season 86 for Ateneo following academic dismissal.

It didn’t matter that the 22-year-old Padrigao was one of the key pieces to Ateneo’s Season 85 title run in 2022 as his academic deficiencies nearly took away a promising collegiate run.

After serving a year of residency, the 6-foot floor general made his second UAAP debut count with his crafty playmaking skills as he finished with five points, six rebounds and seven assists in 22 minutes of action.

“When I joined Ateneo, there’s a culture na established na. So here in UST, panibagong challenge kasi we’re trying to build a new culture here,” Padrigao said.

“We’re [still] building on it kasi ‘yung bumuo ng culture it’s not gonna happen overnight. Halos lahat kami bagong players and teammates to each other. ‘Yun lang dahan dahan lang,” he added.

Although Padrigao was contained offensively for now, it’s only a matter of time before the Season 85 Mythical Team Member return to his explosive ways.

Even then, Padrigao only has UST’s sake in mind as he looks to help the España squad completely recover from back-to-back season bottom finishes.

“Not really [here to just] showcase my talent, I just want to help the team kasi ‘yun nga past two seasons pangit ‘yung standings namin. We’re just trying to change that,” said Padrigao.
