A scavenger was shot after he allegedly attacked a security guard on duty in front of a restaurant in Quezon City.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported on Friday, September 6, that the victim, Mark Oliveros, is currently admitted at a hospital, while the security guard, identified as Remwil Garcera, was arrested.
Authorities stated that the incident occurred on September 4, after the security guard called out Oliveros for loitering outside a restaurant along Kalayaan Avenue in Barangay Central, Quezon City.
During the argument, they said the scavenger picked up a stone and tried to hit the security guard but the guard immediately drew and fired his gun towards Oliveros.
The guard hit the victim in his right lower abdomen, police added.
Personnel of Kamuning Police Station (PS-10) responded promptly and arrested the security guard.
The Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO) arrived and rushed the victim to East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC).
A .38 caliber revolver with six live ammunition was recovered from Garcera.
The suspect is currently detained at QCPD Police Station 10 and will be charged with frustrated homicide.
