Many House of Representatives members have been receiving "death threats" as a result of ongoing investigation of the quad-committee (quad-comm), Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co said.

"Since the start of the quad-committee investigation delving deep into the complex web of the illegal drug trade, POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators)...and other sensitive issues, many of the congressmen have been facing a barrage of death threats," Co wrote in a Facebook post Saturday, Sept. 7.

"Hindi biro ang trabaho na ito (This job is no joke). Every day, they face the risk of danger, but their commitment to truth and justice is stronger," said the defiant Co, chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations.

In response to such threats, the ranking congressman revealed he has personally met with Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) Director BGen. William Segun and PCol. Eleazar R. Barber Jr., "to request additional security measures".

"This isn't just about safety—it's about ensuring that the congressmen can continue to uncover the truth without fear," Co said in justifying the security beef-up.

Among the big and influential names that have been implicated by witnesses in the quad-comm are former president Rodrigo Duterte, his son Davao City 1st district Rep. Paolo Duterte, and staunch allies Senators Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa and Christopher "Bong" Go.

The quad-comm is composed of the House Committees on Dangerous Drugs, on Public Order and Safety, on Human Rights, and on Public Accounts.

Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers is the overall chairman of the quad-comm.
