BACOLOD CITY – Negros Occidental recorded nine dengue fatalities from January 1 to August 31.

The Provincial Health Office said 3,234 dengue cases were recorded as of August 31, a 214.29 percent increase from the 1,029 in the same period last year.
The age group with the highest number of cases were one to 10-years-old, the PHO said.
The municipality of Hinoba-an has the highest number of cases with 312.
Bago City was second with 274 cases; Sipalay City, 234; Talisay City, 208; Sagay City, 199; San Carlos City, 198; Kabankalan City, 196; Silay City, 186; Cadiz City, 179, and Cauayan, 171.
The PHO said that they are closely monitoring cases, particularly in these 10 areas, and have intensified their clean-up drives in these localities.
