Muntinlupa classes suspended for fifth straight day


Classes in all levels in public and private schools in Muntinlupa were suspended for Sept. 6 due to the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat). . 

This is the fifth straight day that no face-to-face classes were conducted in Muntinlupa, earlier due to tropical storm Enteng. 

Mayor Ruffy Biazon announced the suspension on Sept. 5 after consulting with the Schools Division Office-Muntinlupa and other learning institutions.

He said that “our final decision is to suspend face to face classes, all levels, public and private schools in Muntinlupa on Friday, September 6, 2024.” Schools were advised to shift to asynchronous or distance learning. 

The mayor added that based on a bulletin by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration at 5 p.m. on Sept. 5, a yellow rainfall warning was issued for Metro Manila. 

“There is still a threat of heavy rains and possible flooding due to enhanced habagat,” said Biazon. 

He told students, “Isang linggo na kayong walang pasok ha, baka naman sa Lunes, konting ambon lang, humirit na naman kayo. Lubusin n’yo na dahil balik eskwela na next week (You got one week without classes, maybe on Monday, even with light rains, you will ask again [for the suspension of classes]. Make the most out of it because it’s back to school next week).”
