Missing man found dead in fishpond

BASISTA, Pangasinan – A 45-year-old man reported missing was found dead in a fishpond in Barangay Dumpay here on Friday, September 6.

Police identified the victim as Maximino Gatpo.

Marivic Gatpo, 33, the victim’s sister, appeared before the police here on Thursday, September 5, to report that his brother was missing.

Maximino was last seen alive leaving their house on Wednesday afternoon, September 4, to gather grass for his goat and cow. He did not return home and his family thought that he slept in their old family house.

Diosdado Gatpo, his brother, found the body of his brother floating in a fishpond near their house.

Police said the victim could have lost his balance and drowned on the fishpond as he was drunk before he left their house.
