Philippines wins 8 awards at the 2024 World Travel Awards

The Philippines has once again demonstrated its excellence in the travel and tourism industry as it clinched eight awards at this year's World Travel Awards, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said.

The country maintained its dominance as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination for the sixth consecutive year since 2019, highlighting its exceptional underwater experiences.

At the same time, the country was hailed as Asia's Leading Beach Destination and Asia's Leading Island Destination.

The historic walled city of Intramuros was celebrated as Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction, Boracay earned the title of Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, and Cebu was recognized as Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination.

The DOT's "Love the Philippines" campaign was also honored with Asia’s Leading Marketing Campaign 2024.

In a personal accolade, DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco received a special award for her “transformational leadership in tourism.”

"We are determined to expand tourism opportunities further by focusing on quality and sustainable tourism, ensuring that every visitor leaves with a deeper appreciation for the beauty and diversity of our nation," Frasco said.

This year also marked a historic milestone as the Philippines hosted the Asia and Oceania gala ceremony of the World Travel Awards for the first time.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards are renowned as the Oscars of the travel industry, celebrating excellence across various global tourism sectors.
