Over 35,000 families affected by floods in Calumpit, Bulacan


The Calumpit Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CMDRRMO) said on Thursday, September 5, that 35,232 families in 29 barangays in Calumpit, Bulacan, have been affected by severe flooding due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.

The 29 flood-affected barangays include Balite, Balungao, Buguion, Bulusan, Calizon, Calumpang, Caniogan, Corazon, Frances, Gatbuca, Gugo, Iba Este, Iba O’Este, Longos, Meysulao, Meyto, Palimbang, Panducot, Pio Cruzcosa, Poblacion, Pungo, San Jose, San Marcos, San Miguel, Sta Lucia, Sto Nino, Sapang Bayan, Sergio Bayan, and Sucol.

Calumpit Mayor Lem Faustino also announced the suspension of classes in public and private schools due to heavy rainfall, with school officials and teachers implementing alternative modes of learning to ensure that students continue their education.
