ABS-CBN’s Katigbak joins AIA Philippines board

Carlo L. Katigbak, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of ABS-CBN Corp., has joined the board of life insurance firm AIA Philippines.

In a statement, AIA Philippines announced Katigbak's appointment as an independent director for the insurer, previously known as Philam Life, "bringing 30 years of leadership experience to the Board.”

Beyond his role at ABS-CBN, Katigbak has held leadership positions at SkyCable Corp., ABS-CBN Interactive (Digital), and Bayantel Holdings Corp.

His background also includes experience in corporate finance at Capital One Equities and as a financial analyst at First Pacific Capital.

As the head of the Lopez-led broadcast company, Katigbak is recognized for having spearheaded ABS-CBN during its most difficult period in corporate history.

Aside from Katigbak, AIA Philippines has announced the appointment of its CEO, Melita Teo, who will also join the board.

“Teo brings over two decades of experience in the insurance industry to her role,” AIA Philippines said.

Before becoming CEO of AIA Philippines in January, Teo served as Chief Customer and Digital Officer at AIA Singapore, where she led initiatives to enhance customer experience, develop brand strategy, and integrate health and wealth management solutions.

Teo played a key role in driving the company’s digital transformation and leveraging data analytics to create value for customers and distribution partners.

Katigbak and Teo are joined by industry veterans Gregorio Yu and Aurelio Montinola III, who have also recently joined the AIA board.
