South Metro Manila cities suspend face-to-face classes amid heavy rains

The city governments of Las Piñas, Pasay, and Parañaque announced that face-to-face classes at all levels in both their respective public and private schools remain suspended on Wednesday, September 4, after the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a Yellow Rainfall Warning in Metro Manila due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.

Las Piñas Mayor Imelda Aguilar, Pasay Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, and Parañaque Mayor Eric Olivarez directed public and private schools in their jurisdiction to shift their face-to-face classes to online as an alternative mode of learning.

The Pasay city government also warned residents to be cautious about fake announcements circulating on social media.

Rubiano said that all official updates on class suspensions will only be posted on her and the city's official Facebook pages.
